Chapter 8

These comics are a graphic adaptation of Scot McKnight’s translation of The Gospel of Mark from his book The Second Testament. I will be posting daily through 2025 as part of my own devotional meditation on the Gospels.

Yesous now proves once and for all that He is willing to give bread to the nations (not just His people). He feeds a crowd of 4,000. Still, the pharisees ask for a clearer sign than this. Even His apprentices are blind to His true identity. Still, this doesn’t mean things are hopeless. Yesous heals a blind man who regains His sight in stages. This is true of His apprentices too. Despite his recent Spiritual blindness, Petros is finally able to identify Yesous as the Christos. Now Yesous can tell His people about His impending death. Petros tries to disuade Him but is rebuked, followers of Yesous must be willing to see themselves destroyed as they follow Him.

I do not have written permission to use this text but I highly encourage you to order a copy of The Second Testament for yourself from InterVarsity Press. It is a wonderful resource for engaging with the original authors of the whole New Testament (not just Mark).
